CJ ENM is set to launch applications for a new K-pop boy band program titled “Planet B” on August 10. This initiative serves as a prequel to an upcoming audition program scheduled for next year, aiming to discover and nurture new talent in the K-pop industry.
In a press release issued on Monday, the production team for “Planet B” stated, “We plan to turn the entire process of audition recruitment into a prequel program.” This approach signifies a shift in how audition processes are typically conducted, integrating the recruitment phase into the program itself, which may provide a more engaging experience for both participants and viewers.
The “Planet B” program follows the success of previous Mnet initiatives, such as “Boys Planet,” which concluded earlier this year and formed the boy group ZEROBASEONE. The new program is expected to attract a diverse range of applicants, reflecting the global nature of K-pop today, where talent is sourced from various countries and backgrounds.
As the K-pop industry continues to evolve, CJ ENM’s “Planet B” aims to capitalize on the growing interest in survival shows and the debut of new boy bands, further contributing to the vibrant landscape of K-pop music and culture
