Rose of Blackpink is in talked with The Black Label, possible signing?

According to a local media report on Monday, Blackpink’s Rose is set to sign with The Black Label.

The hip-hop label and management company is a subsidiary of YG Entertainment and is headed by producer Teddy, the man behind Blackpink’s success who has produced many of the group’s hits including ‘Doo-du Doo-du’, ‘Boombayah’, ‘Kill This Love’ and ‘How You Like That’. He also produced both songs on Rose’s first solo single “R” in 2021. The main track “On The Ground” topped the iTunes Top Songs chart in 51 regions and entered Billboard’s Hot 100 at number 70, the highest position for a K-pop singer at the time.

The label is in talks with the artist as a result of the report.

All four members of Blackpink renewed their group contracts with YG Entertainment last December, which is estimated to have cost the label around $29 million. The members, with the exception of Rose, have since formed their own companies to manage their individual careers.

The Black Label Background

The Black Label is a hip-hop and R&B focused record label founded by producer Teddy Park, who has been a key figure behind Blackpink’s success.
It is an affiliate label under YG Entertainment, the agency that manages Blackpink as a group.
Other artists signed to The Black Label include Taeyang from BIGBANG, Jeon Somi, Zion.T, and actor Park Bo-gum.

Rose’s Potential Move

After Blackpink renewed their contracts with YG Entertainment as a group in December 2023, the members have been establishing their own individual agencies/labels.
Rose is the only Blackpink member who has not yet signed with an agency for her solo career.
Multiple reports state that Rose is in discussions to sign an exclusive solo contract with The Black Label, headed by Teddy who has produced many of Blackpink’s hit songs.
The Black Label has confirmed they are in talks with Rose about a potential contract.
This move would allow Rose to work closely with Teddy, who she has referred to as “the fifth member” of Blackpink due to his influential role in shaping their music.
