K-pop fans are in for a treat as girl group Kara is set to release a new song titled “Hello,” which will feature the voice of the late singer Koo Ha-ra. This highly anticipated track is a ballad that captures the diverse meanings of the word “hello,” including the joy of reunion and the sadness of farewell.
“Hello” was originally recorded in 2013 for Kara’s fourth full-length album “Full Bloom,” but it was ultimately left out of the final tracklist. The song has now been rearranged and mastered to include additional vocals from member Hur Young-ji, who joined the group in 2014. Koo Ha-ra’s Korean vocals, prerecorded before her passing, bring all six members together in this poignant tribute.
Koo Ha-ra, a beloved member of Kara, tragically passed away on November 24, 2019, after falling victim to a case of illegal sex filming by her former boyfriend Choi Jong-bum. Despite her untimely death, her legacy lives on through her music, and this new release is a testament to her enduring impact on the K-pop world.
The song’s agency, RBW, described “Hello” as a ballad that “captures the diverse meanings of the word ‘hello,’ including the joy of reunion and the sadness of farewell, and enhances the poignancy, with the members’ calm voices.” This emotional tribute is sure to resonate with fans of Kara and Koo Ha-ra alike.
Kara’s last album, “Move Again,” was released in November 2022 to celebrate the group’s 15th anniversary. The lead track “When I Move” received positive reviews from both the general public and fans of the group. Kara is best known for their hits “Pretty Girl” (2008), “Honey” (2008), “Mr.” (2009), “Step” (2011), and “Pandora” (2012). Their megahit “Mr.” played a significant role in the rise of K-pop and Hallyu in Japan, making Kara the first Korean girl group to host a solo concert at the Tokyo Dome.
“Hello” is a prerelease from Kara’s upcoming digital single “I Do, I Do,” and its emotional resonance is sure to leave fans eagerly anticipating the full release.
