Girl group (G)-IDLE will release its cover of Brown Eyed Girls’ “Abracadabra” (2010) at 6 p.m. on Friday, KBS said on the same day.
(G)-IDLE performed its version of the song on KBS2’s music show “The Seasons: Lee Hyori’s Red Carpet” on its episode that aired on Feb. 2.
The group’s cover of “Abracadabra” incorporated a faster BPM from the G-house genre to reinterpret the original into a flashier and more refined sound, according to KBS.
KBS’s “The Seasons” album project releases the songs performed on the program, and has so far released covers from artists including boy band Enhypen and singer songwriter Kim Min-seok of the duo Melomance. The project is done in collaboration with music and entertainment company CJ ENM.
“Abracadabra” was first released as the lead track of girl group Brown Eyed Girls’ third full-length album “Sound-G.” The signature Abracadabra dance was also used in the music video for Psy’s “Gentleman” (2013), the follow-up song to his massive hit “Gangnam Style” (2012).
