In 2016, Seventeen was one of the many Korean pop bands that performed at the Seoul World Cup Stadium for the joint Korean pop event ‘Dream Concert’. Their fanbase, Carat, filled a small section of the stadium.

Eight years later, the boy band filled the arena to the rafters and entertained around 35,000 fans with their ‘Follow Again’ encore.

“One of my biggest dreams started right here: When I saw the one section [of seats] where Carats were sitting, I thought we’d never fill the stadium together. It was such an unrealistic dream, but now we’ve achieved it after years of relentless running,” said Seventeen’s The 8 during the band’s “‘Follow Again’ to Seoul” concert at the Seoul World Cup Stadium in Mapo District, western Seoul, on Saturday.

Despite being the second largest stadium in Korea, the Seoul World Cup Stadium is mainly used as the home ground of FC Seoul and the Korean national football team. Until 2021, it hosted the annual joint K-pop event “Dream Concert”, and since then, the stadium has rarely hosted music acts.

“I was one of the co-presenters [of the Dream Concert] not long after we debuted, and when I spoke in Chinese, I could see that the audience in the front row were surprised that I spoke Chinese,” said Jun, one of the two Chinese members of Seventeen.
