March 6th marked a monumental moment for K-pop sensation NewJeans as they took home the prestigious Group of the Year Award at the 2024 Billboard Women in Music event. Held at the YouTube Theater, this celebration of female talent recognized NewJeans’ remarkable journey up the Billboard charts in 2023. Last year, NewJeans made waves across ten Billboard charts, showcasing their versatility and global appeal.
With five entries on the Billboard Hot 100, including hits like “Super Shy” and “OMG,” the group’s presence was undeniable. This achievement, coupled with their success on the Billboard 200 and Billboard Global 200, solidified their position as leaders in the industry.
Comprised of Minji, Hanni, Danielle, Haerin, and Hyein, NewJeans captivated audiences with their infectious energy and captivating performances. At the Women in Music event, fans were treated to a live mashup of two of the group’s chart-topping hits, further highlighting their talent and charisma.
Presenting the Group of the Year Award to NewJeans was none other than recent GRAMMY winner Lainey Wilson, who praised the group for their cultural impact and trailblazing spirit. She said, “After making their debut in 2022, NewJeans has helped lead a new wave of girl groups in K-pop, a genre long dominated by men. They built both a core fan base at home in Korea and worldwide.”
