MISAMO (미사모) is a Japanese sub-unit of the popular K-pop girl group TWICE. The unit consists of TWICE’s three Japanese members: Mina, Sana, and Momo. Their name is a portmanteau of the first syllables of each member’s name.
Group History:
MISAMO’s journey began with the formation of TWICE in 2015 through the reality show “Sixteen.” Mina, Sana, and Momo were selected as part of the final nine-member lineup of TWICE. Over the years, they gained popularity as part of TWICE, one of the most successful K-pop girl groups globally.
In February 2023, JYP Entertainment announced the formation of MISAMO as TWICE’s first official sub-unit. This move was seen as a strategic step to further expand TWICE’s presence in the Japanese market, given that all three members are Japanese.
MISAMO made their official debut on July 26, 2023, with the release of their first mini-album “Masterpiece.” The album featured seven tracks, including the pre-release single “Bouquet,” which was used as the theme song for the TV Asahi drama “Liaison: Children’s Heart Clinic.”Prior to their debut, MISAMO released the digital single “Marshmallow” on June 15, 2023, giving fans a taste of their unique sound and concept.
The group held their debut showcase, “MiSaMo Japan Showcase ‘Masterpiece’,” over five days in Osaka and Yokohama, selling 40,000 tickets from more than 600,000 applications, demonstrating their immense popularity.In December 2023, MISAMO participated in the prestigious 74th NHK Kōhaku Uta Gassen, performing their song “Do Not Touch.”
This appearance in one of Japan’s most watched music programs further solidified their status in the Japanese music industry.Looking ahead, MISAMO is set to release their second EP “Haute Couture” on November 6, 2024. They will also embark on a Japan tour in support of the EP, starting on November 2, 2024, showcasing their growth and continued success as a sub-unit.Members Profile:
