Despite the naysayers, YG’s newly debuted girl group, BABYMONSTER, has proven their exceptional talent, which is a testament to their hard work and dedication. 

According to the South Korean music chart system, Hanteo Chart, BABYMONSTER’s first mini-album, “BABYMONS7ER,” made a record total of 524,925 cumulative sales since its release on April 1. 

BABYMONS7ER” set a new record for the first-week sales of a K-pop girl group’s debut album, selling 401,287 copies. Seven weeks later, their album continued an upward trend, surpassing half a million in sales. 

According to the girl group’s label, YG Entertainment, demand in major music markets such as Japan and China exceeded expectations. The explosive growth in album sales, considered a key indicator of a core fandom, indicates that the girl group’s fanbase extends beyond South Korea and is expanding globally. 

With their popularity rising, BABYMONSTER is expected to ride this momentum by actively promoting in Japan. The girl group is confirmed to make appearances on the country’s major music shows and will engage with Japanese fans through the famous music festival “Summer Sonic 2024.” 

YG Entertainment anticipates the number of sales will go even higher. 

BABYMONSTER is conducting their first fan meeting tour [BABYMONSTER PRESENTS: SEE YOU THERE] in South Korea, covering seven shows in five cities. On May 31, the girl group will release the performance video for its highly anticipated track “LIKE THAT,” which was gifted by legendary singer and producer Charlie Puth. The track’s official audio has garnered 10 million views on YouTube and is a trending track on the social media platform TikTok.
