The boyband WayV will be embarking on their first ever concert tour called “ON THE Way” in August, their agency SM Entertainment announced on Tuesday.

The concert tour will kick off in Nagoya on the 17th and 18th of August. WayV will then perform in Kobe on the 22nd and 23rd of September, Tokyo on the 28th and 29th of September, Jakarta on the 5th of October and Bangkok on the 2nd and 3rd of November.

According to SM Entertainment, more dates will be added to the tour in the future.

Group member Winwin will not be joining the tour. He also didn’t participate in the group’s latest album ‘Give Me That’, which was released earlier this month.

WayV’s fifth EP ‘Give Me That’, which was released on the 3rd of June, topped the iTunes Top Album chart in 19 regions. The album also topped the digital album sales charts on Chinese streaming platforms QQ Music, Kugou Music and Wangyiyun Music.

WayV debuted in January 2019 with their first EP, “The Vision”. They are the China-based subunit of SM Entertainment’s boy band NCT.

WayV is a Chinese boy band and the fourth sub-unit of the South Korean boy group NCT, managed by SM Entertainment’s Chinese sub-label Label V. Here is a summary of their history:

Formation and Debut (2019)

WayV was formed by SM Entertainment as the first sub-unit of NCT based outside of South Korea, specifically targeting the Chinese market. The group originally consisted of 7 members: Kun, Ten, Winwin, Lucas, Xiaojun, Hendery, and Yangyang.They made their debut on January 17, 2019 with the single album “The Vision” and its lead single “Regular” (Chinese version of NCT 127’s song). Their fandom name is “WayZenNi” and their official color is “Neo Pearl Champagne”.

Early Years (2019-2020)

In 2019, WayV released their first two EPs “Take Off” and “Take Over the Moon”, entering the Billboard World Albums chart for the first time. In 2020, they released their first full studio album “Awaken the World” which charted in the top 10 on Gaon and Billboard World Albums charts.

Lineup Change and Continued Activities (2021-present)

In May 2023, SM Entertainment announced that member Lucas had departed from both NCT and WayV. As a 6-member group, WayV continued promoting with the release of their hit single “Kick Back” in 2021, topping the Gaon Album Chart.In November 2023, they released their second studio album “On My Youth” which earned them a Platinum certification in South Korea. Their latest EP “Give Me That” was released in June 2024, with member Winwin not participating due to scheduling conflicts. The EP’s lead single of the same name earned them their first music show win.WayV has also formed sub-units like WayV-Kun & Xiaojun, WayV-Ten & Yangyang, and the canceled WayV-Lucas & Hendery unit. They have actively promoted in China and participated in NCT’s joint concerts and tours.
