Leading K-pop girl group NewJeans will be the first to perform at Gyeongbokgung Palace’s Geunjeongjeon Hall.

Sponsored by the Cultural Heritage Administration and organized by the Korea Heritage Agency and KBS, “2024 Korea On Stage – New Generation” (Korea On Stage) will take place on May 21. 21 on a special stage in front of the Heungnyemun Gate of Gyeongbokgung Palace.

Geunjeongjeon, a building used for major state ceremonies during the Joseon Dynasty, is a historically significant state heritage site designated as a national treasure of South Korea. Public performances in this area were rare, even after Gyeongbokgung Palace was opened to the public in 1954. The Cultural Heritage Administration has opened Geunjeongjeon especially for NewJeans, a leading K-pop group, which has attracted much attention.

NewJeans will be performing a special version of ‘Cool With You’ on stage, making history as the first K-pop girl group to perform at Geunjeongjeon.

They will be wearing specially designed hanbok (traditional Korean clothing) for the event, including reinterpreted traditional clothing such as jeogori (a traditional Korean dress) and chima (skirt), as well as beoseon (traditional Korean shoes) and goddess-like hair accessories, showcasing the beauty of Korean aesthetics.
