BB Girls’ Yujeong has left the four-member girl group, it was announced by BB Girls Company on Monday.

The group will continue their activities as a trio under their new label, BB Girls Company, which will be under the management of their partner company GLG, which is another entertainment agency.

BB Girls had recently ended their contract with Warner Music Korea, the agency said.

BB Girls made their debut in 2011 under the name Brave Girls, but were unable to achieve any commercial success until their 2017 song ‘Rollin” belatedly went viral in 2021. The group will continue with members Minyoung, Eunji and Yuna.

BB GIRLS (브브걸) is a three-member girl group under the BBGIRLS Company and GLG. Formed by Brave Entertainment as Brave Girls (브레이브걸스), they debuted as a five-member ensemble on 8 April 2011 with the single album “The Difference”.On 16 February 2023, Brave announced the group’s departure from the agency, with the single “Goodbye” released on the same day.

On 27 April 2023, Warner Music Korea announced that all four members had signed an exclusive contract with the agency to continue as a group. On 3rd May it was announced that they had changed their name to BB GIRLS due to Brave Entertainment owning the trademark for the name ‘Brave Girls’.

On the 8th of April 2011, Brave Girls officially debuted as a five member girl group with the single album ‘The Difference’. On the same day, they performed at Music Bank and continued their promotion with the title track “Do You Know” on various music shows such as Inkigayo and M! Countdown. On the 8th of June, they released the music video for the b-side “So Sexy”. The group released their first mini-album Back To Da Future on the 29th of July 2011. The music video for the title track “Easily” was released on the same day. A remix single of the song “Easily” entitled “Easily (Remix)” was released on 26 August 2011.

On 22 February 2012, Brave Girls released their second mini album Re:issue along with the music video for the title track “These Days You” and their second digital single “For You” was released on 13 August 2013. The song only featured original members Hyeran and Yujin, and on 26th December of the same year, the collaborative digital single “Passing of the Year” was released, featuring Brave Girls (Hyeran and Yujin) and labelmates Electroboyz, BIGSTAR & Park Soo Jin.

On the 3rd of February 2016, it was announced that the three original members (Eunyoung, Seoah and Yejin) had left the group and that five new members had been added: Minyoung, Yujeong, Eunji, Yuna and Hayun. The group would continue as a seven member girl group and it was revealed that they were in the final stages of preparing for their comeback. On the 10th of February it was announced that their comeback would be on the 16th of February. On 16 February, they released their third digital single “Deepened” along with its music video.

On 21 June 2016, Brave Girls released the first teaser for their third mini album High Heels, which was released on 27 June, and then released the digital single “Yoo-Hoo” on 1 September 2016. On 27 September 2016, a crowdfunding project was launched via Makestar to help fund their next comeback. On the 11th of October, the project had reached its goal and was set to run until the 30th of November.

On 13 January 2017, Brave Entertainment announced that member Yujin would be leaving the group, while Hyeran would be taking an indefinite hiatus due to her deteriorating health. The following month, it was announced that the group would be making a comeback as a five-member group in March, and a comeback schedule was released on 27 February 2017 for their fourth mini album, Rollin’, which was released on 7 March 2017. On 17 March 2017, Yujeong went on a temporary hiatus as she had been hospitalised with acute enteritis and needed to rest. The group then continued as a four-member group until Yujeong felt better, and in August 2017, it was confirmed that members Yujeong, Eunji and Yuna would be joining fellow labelmates and boy group BIGSTAR on the idol reboot show The Unit.

On 1 August 2018, Brave Brothers teased the group’s upcoming comeback with a new version of “Rollin'”. On 11 August 2018, their agency announced that member Hayun would be taking a break from the comeback due to health reasons, and that they would continue as a foursome. Their digital single “Rollin’ (New Version)” was released on the same day. On 5 August 2020, it was announced that the group would be making a comeback on 14 August, over two years after their last release. Their sixth digital single entitled “We Ride” was released on 14th August 2020.

At the end of February 2021, a fan-edited compilation video of the group performing “Rollin'” went viral, resulting in the song topping many Korean charts for the first time in their career. As a result, the group returned to music shows to perform the song and also made appearances on variety shows. It was also revealed by member Yujeong that they were about to disband just before the viral; the members had already left the dormitory when it happened.

On the 12th of March 2021, “Rollin” had officially achieved a perfect all-kill on the Korean music charts. On the 14th of March 2021, the group won their first music show on Inkigayo. On the 1st of April 2021, it was confirmed that the group were preparing for a summer comeback. On the 9th of April, on the episode of MBC’s Home Alone, Brave Brothers confirmed that they were working on a mini album that would possibly be released in June, and on the 17th of June, the group made their comeback with their fifth mini album, Summer Queen, featuring the title track “Chi Mat Ba Ram”.

On the 5th of July, it was announced that a piano version of “Summer by Myself” would be released on the 9th of July at 12pm KST as a surprise gift to their fans.

On the 9th of August, Brave Girls announced that the repackage of their fifth mini album Summer Queen, entitled After ‘We Ride’, would be released on the 23rd of August.

On 14th January Brave Entertainment announced that Minyoung would be taking a break from activities due to health problems.

On the 21st of February, Mnet announced that the group would be taking part in their reality show Queendom 2, which is set to air on the 31st of March. A few hours later, Brave Entertainment announced that Brave Girls would be releasing a new album sometime in March. On the 2nd of March it was announced that they would be releasing their new album on the 14th of March, with Minyoung returning from her hiatus. On the 3rd of March, Brave Girls released the comeback schedule for their sixth mini album, Thank You.

On 4 May, Brave Entertainment officially announced plans for the group’s first US tour, Brave Girls 1st U.S. Tour, which began in Philadelphia on 9 July and ended in Los Angeles on 23 July.

On the 16th of February, Korean news agency Xportsnews reported that all four members would be leaving Brave Entertainment following the end of their exclusive contracts. The agency later confirmed the news, announcing that Brave Girls would officially end their relationship with the agency and that the group would release a digital single entitled ‘Goodbye’ on the same day. The following day, Minyoung confirmed that the group had not disbanded and that they would reunite in the future.

On the 27th of April, Warner Music Korea announced that all four members had signed an exclusive contract with the agency to continue as a group and that they were in talks about a name for the group. Minyoung confirmed the news on her Instagram page, saying that they were preparing to make a comeback in the summer. On the 3rd of May it was announced that they had changed their name to BB GIRLS as their previous agency, Brave Entertainment, owned the trademark for the name ‘Brave Girls’.

On the 7th of July, Sports Kyunghyang reported that BB GIRLS would be making a comeback in August. Later that day, Warner Music Korea confirmed the reports.

On 19 July, a ‘coming soon’ teaser was posted on the group’s social media accounts, announcing that they would be making their comeback on 3 August. On 24 July, the title of the release was revealed to be ‘One More Time’.

On the 20th of August, Brave Entertainment released the group’s first best album, Brave Girls Best Album, under their former name.

On the 22nd of April, Warner Music Korea announced that BB GIRLS had left Warner Music Korea after the end of their contract. Later that day, it was announced that the group would continue as a trio under their own agency, BBGIRLS Company, in conjunction with GLG, following the departure of Youjoung.
