According to the music industry tracker Hanteo Chart, a total of 550,170 copies of the EP were sold in its first week of release. This is the highest sales figure for a debut EP by a female K-pop solo artist in its first week of release.
According to Yuqi’s agency, Cube Entertainment, all of the songs on the seven-track EP, including the lead track “Freak”, have charted on Melon’s daily Hot 100 chart. “Yuq1” topped the iTunes Top Albums chart in six regions, including Russia and Chile, and the iTunes Top K-Pop Music Albums chart in 15 regions, including the US, UK and Germany, the label said.
Yuqi launched her solo career with ‘Yuq1’ in 2018, almost six years after her debut as a member of (G)I-DLE. The group is known for its hits “Latata” (2018), “Tomboy” (2022), “Nxde” (2022) and “Queencard” (2023).
The singer is set to continue promoting the EP when she appears on Mnet’s “M Countdown” on Thursday.
