Who Is Jimin?

Jimin (지민) is a South Korean singer-songwriter, and producer under BigHit Music. He is a member of the boy group BTS.
He made his solo debut with the mini album Face on March 24, 2023.

Pre-debut

He auditioned for Big Hit Entertainment and was shortlisted as the last member of BTS.

2013: Debut with BTS

He made his debut as a member of BTS on June 13, 2013 with the group’s first single album “2 Cool 4 Skool”.

2023: “Set Me Free Pt.2”, solo debut with Face, “Like Crazy (Remixes)”, “Closer Than This”

On January 16, 2023, dongA.com reported that Jimin will be releasing a solo album in February. A source from BigHit Music responded that the schedule is yet to be finalized. On February 10, Jimin announced on a Weverse live broadcast that he will likely be making his debut in March.

On February 22, it was announced that Jimin will make his solo debut with the mini album Face on March 24. “Set Me Free Pt.2” was pre-released on March 17.

On March 26, BigHit Music announced that the remix single “Like Crazy (Remixes)” will be released later that day.

On April 4, Jimin became the first Korean to top the Billboard’s Artist 100, and spent seven consecutive weeks on the chart.

On May 9, BigHit Music announced that Jimin will be collaborating with American rappers and singers Kodak Black, NLE Choppa, JVKE, and Muni Long for the soundtrack of Fast X. “Angel Pt. 1” was released on May 18. On June 12, the second OST, “Angel Pt. 2”, was announced. It was released on June 15.

On December 21, BigHit Music announced that Jimin will be releasing the digital single “Closer Than This” on December 22.

Personal life

Education

He studied modern dance in a school in Busan, then joined a school in Seoul, with V and RM.

Health
On January 31, 2022, BigHit Music released a statement saying that Jimin had a sore throat and began experiencing abdominal pain on January 30. He then went to the hospital and after thorough examination, he tested positive for COVID-19 and acute appendicitis. He went through surgery in the morning on the 31st following physician advice. The surgery was successful and he has since recovered.

Military service
On November 22, 2023, BigHit announced that Jimin started his military enlistment process and further updates will later be shared. On December 5, BigHit Music announced that Jimin is about to start their military service, without providing an exact date due to safety reasons. He eventually enlisted on December 12. He will be discharged on June 11, 2025.
