JYP EntertainmentŽs newest boyband NEXZ will be debuting with their single “Ride the Vibe” on May 20, it was announced on Wed.

The band released a pre-release digital single, “Miracle”, at the same time in Japan and Korea in December last year.

A teaser video featuring NEXZ members Tomoya, Yu, Haru, So Geon, Seita, Hyui and Yuki was uploaded to JYP Entertainment’s social media channels at midnight on Tuesday.

The members of the band are the seven winners of the K-Pop label’s audition reality show ‘Nizi Project Season 2’, which was broadcast on YouTube and Hulu Japan from July to December last year. As a result, Geon, who performed under the stage name Ken, and Hyui, who performed under the stage name Yuhi, will now be known by their current names.

All of the members of the group are Japanese, with the exception of So Geon, who is Korean by birth and has Japanese nationality.

In the introductions of the seven members, verbs that follow the phrase “like” are attached to each member. For example, Yu is followed by the description “How to eat” and Tomoya has the phrase “How to sleep deep”. The teaser video ends with the phrase “How to ride the vibe”.

NEXZ is the first boy band to be released by JYP Entertainment in six years after the release of Stray Kids.

Park Jin-young, JYP Entertainment’s chief creative officer, came up with the name of the group, according to the label. NEXZ stands for ‘Next Z (Generation)/’the next generation’, reflecting the ambition of the band to ‘unlock the future of a new generation’.
