Namjoo of Apink surprised fans with the news that she will release a solo album soon.

A logo image designed with the initials of her name, K, N, and J, was uploaded on Wednesday signaling her return as a solo singer. Details for the upcoming album will be available soon, according to agency Choi Creative Lab.

The lead vocalist of the girl group released her first solo single “Bird” in September 2020.

Four members of Apink signed with Choi Creative Lab last year after their contract with IST Entertainment came to an end after 12 years. Jung Eunji was the only one who stayed with the agency. All five of them promised that they will remain a group. Their last full-group album was the 10th EP “Self” that came out in April last year.

Who Is Namjoo?

Namjoo (남주) is a South Korean singer, rapper, lyricist and designer under Choi Creative Lab. She is a member of the girl group Apink and their sub-units Apink BnN and Apink JooJiRong.

As a soloist, she goes by her full name Kim Nam Joo. She made her solo debut on September 7, 2020 with her first single “Bird”.

2011: Debut with Apink

She debuted as a member of Apink on April 19, 2011 with the group’s first mini album Seven Springs of Apink.

2019: Sugar Please

On February 14, 2019, Namjoo launched her own fashion line, Sugar Please.

2023: Departure from IST Entertainment, new agency

On April 28, IST Entertainment announced that Chorong, Bomi, Namjoo, and Hayoung decided not to renew their contracts but will still maintain their activities as members of Apink.

On that same day, it was announced that she, alongside Chorong, Bomi and Hayoung, had signed exclusive contracts with Choi Creative Lab. The agency detailed plans of supporting their individual activities and as well as the future of Apink.

Personal life


She attended Seoul Performing Arts High School, graduating in February 13, 2014.[4] In 2015, she was accepted to Sungkyunkwan University’s Department of Performing Arts.
